| As I said in the other post: I do think people should get patents if they are going to live and die by the particular product, there's no argument there but all I'm saying is that we wont get nearly the stream of good, quality products if this tradition keeps up. Who is going to want to spend the time and money when they'll be undercut. Not to mention, it's quite naive to think that just having the patent will solve all of the problems or even most of them. Perhaps naive is too strong a word since all that does is emphasize that you haven't been privvy to what happens when people STILL send the product to your shores. If it were as simple as "Hey, that's my product" and a judge saying "Okay, you can't sell it" then it'd be fine. This is just one of MANY examples: 1) The time involved in the process of the complaint can sometimes exceed the entire lifespan of the product itself.
2) Before the first case can be settled, other makers may already be copying the copies thus increasing the number of people to go after.
3) Soon it's yet another lost cause and the costs of dealing with it DO outweigh the gains of the profit itself. Seriously, I do respect your brain Kenny but you haven't dealt with this before. You don't have to "assume" that I have because you can simply do some research online and see there's so much hell to it that it is IMPRACTICAL. Very much so.
